Tours

We will try to share “our” boats with as many people as possible before, during and after Fjordsteam, and have therefore set up many trips where the public can join.

Wednesday 4/8 and Thursday 5/8

From Bergen, the public can join both Wednesday 4/8 between Bergen and Skjerjehamn and Thursday 5/8 on the trip north towards Florø. All stops correspond with the express boats north and south, and a 30% discount is given on Fjord1's routes in correspondence. Route times and prices can be found at this link.

Friday 6/8

Excursion day in collaboration with the Route History Association and village associations/resource persons. The public is invited to join approximately 5-hour tours of the district around Florø by vintage boat and vintage bus. All tours start at 1200 from Florø, and return at approximately 1700. Tickets can be purchased at the Tourist Information Office in Florø (5774 3000) or at floraturistkontor@gmail.com .

You can choose between these tours;

  • Join us on the vintage boat Atløy to Svanøy, the pearl of Sunnfjord. Here you will get a tour of Svanøy Hovudgård and the Norwegian Deer Center. You can find all the details about the trip by clicking here.
  • Follow the old liner M/S Granvin to Likkje Høydal. Here there will be entertainment by the local poet Oddvar Karlsen, food and drink, a tour of the motor museum and a visit to the rock carving field in Ausevika. All details about the trip can be found by clicking here.
  • Take a journey through time with musical accompaniment to the saga island of Kinn with the famous Kinnakyrkja on the steamboat D/S Oster. The boat is perhaps best known from the song “Dar kjem dampen” by Ivar Medaas. Join a mini-concert and tour of the church. The most energetic can take a trip to Kinnaklova. All details here.
  • Kalvåg is the largest fishing village in western Norway, and during Fjordsteam you can take a trip on the coal-fired steamship D/S Børøysund, which has come all the way from Oslo. Here you can participate in many kinds of activities, have lunch at Knutholmen or just stroll around the beautiful village. All the details here.
  • Inland from Florø you will find the active village of Eikefjord, and here you can visit the “Norwegian Tie Museum” or take part in competitions on the beach. The fjord bus M/S Vestgar (or veteran bus depending on the route) from Øygaren makes the trip! All details here.
  • On the green island of Askrova you can join a market day or take part in a free course in flatbread and lefse baking. The big old fishing boat M/S Hindholmen will take you there, and you can find all the details here.
  • The cleaning boats will head west into the sea to the archipelago of Batalden and Fanøya. Here, among others, the author Trond Strømgren will welcome and hold a multimedia presentation about dramatic shipwrecks in the district. There will be a guided tour, and the opportunity to participate in a competition in the local national sport of blow casting. All details here.

Saturday 7/8

We try to recreate the atmosphere of old times with hectic activity in the harbor and bustling life in the square. The boats leave in the morning to return together to Florø at around 1100. At 1500 the boats return on “their” routes. A complete route overview can be found at this link; Timetable

  • Flokenes / Svanøy / Askrova. M/S Atløy is going up on its last route. You can find the times here.
  • Likkje Høydal / Stavang. M/S Granvin runs the route, with times like these.
  • Rognaldsvåg / Skorpa D/S Thorolf and M/S Glesnes operate the route, with such times.
  • Kalvåg / Villevika D/S Børøysund runs the route, with such times.
  • Batalden / Barekstad R/S Olav Ringdal and others go the route, with times like these.

Sunday 8/8 and beyond

After Fjordsteam in Florø, there will be a joint sailing into the Sognefjord for those vessels that wish to do so. Currently, these vessels are registered for this part of the event; M/S “Atløy”, M/S “Granvin”, D/S “Oster”, D/S “Børøysund” and perhaps D/S “Stord 1”. If you wish to participate, this must be arranged with each individual boat, but Øyvin Konglevoll on telephone 951 13 223 will coordinate. Read more here.
