M/S “Sølvskjær”
M/S “Wedøy” has been sold, and the owner is bringing his new boat M/S “Sølvskjær” in its place.
Sølvskjær was built in Flekkefjord in 1954. 15.2m long, 52m wide and 2.2m deep. The contractor was Gunnar Egeland. The vessel has been a shrimp trawler for most of its life, except for a short period of fishing. The vessel was first fitted with a two-cylinder Union 100-140 Hp engine. In 1965 the engine was replaced with a new 120 Hp Grenaa. In 1969 this was replaced with a 300Hp Detroit 8V71 engine.
Sølvskjær has been popularly known as the silver spoon because she is so well-mannered.
The vessel was taken out of fishing in the early 2000s and berths and a lounge were built into the hold. Apart from this, the vessel is unchanged. Much of the original has been preserved for the future.
