M/Y Tysso påmeldt

/Y «Tysso» er en motoryacht bygget i 1917 av båtbygger Ole Oma i hans båtbyggeri på Døso ved Leirvik, Stord. Hun ble bygget for Danmarks konsul i Bergen, Christian Magnus Kjær (1865–1935), til en avtalt pris på 4 000 kr. Oma hadde tidligere drevet båtbyggeriet Oma Boat Building i Seattle og M/Y «Tysso»s design er basert på lystbåtene Oma fikk bygget i USA.   M/Y «Tysso» er 58 fot lang og 10 1/2 fot bred og bygget i eik og furu med overbygg i mahogni. Motoryachtens innredning ble bygget med tanke på størst mulig komfort, med salonger, soverom, kjøkken, w.c., mannskapslugar og et stort maskinrom med plass til en kraftig motor på 100 Hk. Malerarbeidet ble utført av J. Kattetvedt og K. Risan på Leirvik

Etter noen år som eier solgte båten til Glomfjord Smelteverk i Nordland. I den forbindelse ble styrehuset forlenget til den fasong det har idag. Etter at sinksmelteverket i Glomford ble kjøpt av staten på tvangsauksjon i 1924 ble motoryachten solgt videre til de store industribedriftene i Odda. Båten ble brukt som lystbåt og skyssbåt mellom Odda og Granvin. Tilreisende direktører, styremedlemer kunne fra 1935 ta tog direkte til Granvin med Hardangerbanen. Det Norske Nitridaktieselskaps aluminiums­fabrikk i Tyssedal fikk driftsansvaret og båten fikk navnet M/Y «Aluminium».

Etter at A/S Tyssefaldene overtok drifts- og eieransvaret i 1949 ble båtens motor skiftet og innredningen modernisert. Båten endret nå også navn til M/Y «Tysso». Tidlig på 1960-talet fikk M/Y «Tysso» ny lettbåt i mahogni, også den bygget av Ole Oma. Behovet for en passasjerbåt opphørte etterhvert og i 1987 ble båten solgt tilbake til Oma Baatbyggeri AS. I 1995 ble motorcruiseren solgt til Tysso AS i Norheimsund som ønsket å bruke motoryachten i reiselivssammenheng. Båten ble i 1997 oppført på Riksantikvarens liste over verneverdige fartøy.[1] Norsk Vasskraft- og Industristadmuseum eier i dag M/Y «Tysso» og fartøyet har vært til restaurering ved Hardanger Fartøyvernsenter fra 2005. Sommeren 2009 ble båten sjøsatt ved Fartøyvernsenteret.
